RISE Financial Literacy Solutions
Independent, proven, measurable, nationally recognized…
The economic crisis of 2008 clearly demonstrated the pressing need for national financial literacy. Commensurately, financial literacy initiatives – along with materials, programs, grants and research – have proliferated.
But not all can claim reliability, objectivity and proven success.
The RISE financial education team is the ideal candidate to provide financial education content and communication capabilities necessary to meet these challenges. Unlike many financial literacy initiatives, this team is 100% independent and has no financial interest in or third-party promotional arrangements with financial product manufacturers or distributors.
Uncommon financial education expertise…
The financial education content is authored by husband-and-wife personal finance columnists and best-selling authors, Alan Lavine and Gail Liberman.
Their latest book is “Quick Steps to Financial Stability (Que/Penguin).”
Their long-running columns have appeared in Dow Jones Retirement Weekly, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Marysville, Calif. Appeal-Democrat, the Palm Beach Daily NewsDow Jones MarketWatch, the Dow Jones newswire, WSJ.com, FoxBusiness.com, Scripps Newspapers on Florida’s Treasure Coast, the Boston Herald and the Savannah Morning News.
Columns by the couple have been cited in congressional testimony--at least on the subjects of consumer protections in financial services, credit card practices and financial regulatory reform. One of their columns also was included in comment letters to the Federal Reserve Board on Truth-in-Lending reform.
Their best-selling book, “Rags to Riches: Motivating Stories of How Ordinary People Achieved Extraordinary Wealth! (Dearborn, 2000),” was featured on Oprah's television show. Among their other highly-acclaimed books: “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Making Money with Mutual Funds (Alpha),” “Rags to Retirement (Alpha),” “More Rags to Riches (Dearborn),” “Love, Marriage & Money (Dearborn)” and “Improving Your Credit and Reducing Your Debt (Wiley),” endorsed by the ICFP (now the Financial Planning Association).
They are listed in Marquis's Who's Who in America and are members of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.
Unparalled communication capabilities and content delivery…
The video and voice production is led by multiple EMMY-Award winner, Art Carlson.
A self-described “news junkie,” Art Carlson began his broadcast career in 1975 and worked in Radio-TV for the next 30-years. He has been honored with seven EMMY Awards for his reporting and anchoring at WPLG-TV in Miami and for his long-form productions, most recently for “The National Hurricane Survival Test,” a 30-minute TV special distributed and aired from Texas to Maine.
Since 2003, Carlson has worked exclusively as a writer, video producer and voice talent for a host of projects ranging from interactive DVDs and commercials to corporate presentations and documentaries. His work has included “Drive for Life: The National Safe Driving Test,” “Lawton Chiles: A Great Floridian,” “Get Ready Florida!” an annual hurricane preparedness special and a two disc, interactive DVD for the Florida Emergency Medical Services for Children program.
Our approach to financial education…
We live in a sound bite highly visual world with shorter individual attention spans.
Our interactive financial education approach meets this challenge head-on – effectively communicating, motivating and measuring core consumer financial competencies. Incorporating a financial planning curriculum of self-contained 3-4 minute mini-lessons, the user is presented with options which fit their time frame and specific level of interest. Importantly, this separate but integrated approach also enables quick reference solutions for later use.
The RISE team can produce interactive financial education tools which integrate motivational videos, interactive calculators, text, and pre/post tests – all within downloadable/emailable Adobe PDF tools. This delivery methodology effectively supports individual eLearning as well as classroom presentation.
Financial literacy research confirms that the frequency of individual financial education is a critical factor in both effectiveness and measuring success. This particular type of delivery methodology effectively supports this important requirement.
